Cost of Importing Goods

Written on the 17th of July 2009 by Famous Logistics

The government imposes certain duties
and tariffs on importing products from overseas. The amount that you pay is influenced by a number of different factors.

Firstly, the most obvious, is what the products actually are and what they are used for. Have the goods been processed or manufactured? Are the products sent to you under warranty or are they provided to you on a lease arrangement? And what will happen to them when they arrive in Australia – will they be stored or resold immediately?

A customs broker will be able to provide you with information regarding the duty imposed on the product you would like to import and what you can do to reduce it.
