Importing and Selling on eBay

Written on the 8th of November 2009 by Famous Logistics

The development of eBay has meant the importing and selling of products is accessible to us all. Many people do just this as a way of earning a little bit of extra pocket money while still others have made it their occupation.

Your success and how much profit you can expect to make will depend on a few things – what you decide to buy and sell on eBay, how much money you have to spend on stock and what is the cost of buying and selling it.

Since all goods imported into Australia need customs and perhaps even quarantine clearance it also is highly recommended that people who want to import goods to sell on eBay to do their homework on this topic in order to avoid incurring possible additional costs.

The Famous Team has a lot of experience in matters relating to customs clearance and quarantine processes. We have cherry-picked two of the most valuable Tips for those keen to import goods from overseas to sell on eBay.

  • The most important piece of advice we give clients is to make sure the country of origin is clearly marked on the products. For example, each individual piece of jewellery that is imported needs to have a sticker indicating where it was made.
  • Importers are well advised to find out whether the product/s they are intending to import are allowed into Australia by quarantine, and to check import duty and GST prior to importing.
